An ode to marjoram.
July 2018
If you haven’t buried your face in a heap of marjoram I highly recommend you do.
The scent is so intoxicating, so soothing and instantly calming. I’m brewing a half gallon of infused oil so I can apply it to my skin whenever I shower.
My neighbor brings me a giant heap of it when summer peaks, when she arrives I feel pure childlike excitement. I need marjoram in my life. I need to consume her in all the ways possible. She is so healing for all of the things I struggle with.
Plants are my go to medicines. I reach out to them first because more often than not I find an answer right away for what my body needs.
It all started with hawthorn and passionflower, they saved me from pre-eclampsia during my second pregnancy. It was so intense to witness this kind of power with herbal medicine. Although I was prepared to, I never needed to take medication for it because of my daily intake of these two herbs. Thanks to my midwives for sharing those plants with me.
Since then I can not learn enough about ways to use plants to support my mind/body/spirit. CBD is another powerhouse that is currently changing my life on many levels.
Although I highly respect the medical world and clearly understand when it’s needed (obviously!) I think it’s wise to use both tools for your higher good. I’ve slowly moved away from even Ib profen, and use feverfew instead. Feverfew is highly regarded for its treatment for migraines. It works!!
I guess I’m just saying I feel very grateful to have come down this path. Moving away from all the preconceived notions I had from the area I grew up in. Widening my perceptions, opening to the ancestral wisdom and possibilities. I’ll still be learning about the endless healing of plants when I’m old and gray.
